Who We are
Empowered Families, Thriving Children
We are a government registered organization called Kijiji Cha Upendo (Swahili for “Village of Love”) Children’s Project*. We enhance the capacity of guardians caring for orphaned and abandoned children within their own loving families, so that they can give their children a better future through the provision of food and education.
Currently, Kijiji Cha Upendo embraces 75 families that together care for 500 children. We operate in Kibera, one of Africa’s largest slums.
Our Mission
To complement the efforts of families already providing physical and emotional support to orphans and other vulnerable children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS through a family based approach, where children receive nurturing care by loving adults, within family homes.
